Kong Mou Sum Library

Library Officer (Systems)

Description:

  • Maintain various library management systems/servers (e.g. Alma, SFX, Primo, remote access service, self-check machine, etc.) to ensure the Library service level
  • Maintain and develop the Library website to enable its functionalities and content accuracy
  • Perform regular library operational duties, such as circulation and information services.
  • Develop in-house programmes for the Library’s use
  • Provide IT-related technological services and support to the Library office and users
  • Liaise and collaborate with other self-financed higher education institutions and vendors
  • Undertake shift counter duties during evenings or weekends

Job Requirement

  • A recognized university degree in information technology, computer science or related disciplines or above
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, PHP, Java, JavaScript, MySQL, XML, or web design and editing is preferred
  • Knowledge and experience in administrating library management systems (Alma, SFX, Primo, EZproxy) would be advantageous
  • Good analytical skill, ability to troubleshoot, identify the cause and implement solutions
  • Good command of English and Chinese (including Cantonese and Putonghua)
  • Ability to work as a team as well as independently
  • Experience in working in a library environment will be advantageous.

Library Assistant (2 positions)

Description:

  • Provide quality user services including circulation, information services, shelving and collection maintenance, user area maintenance and promotional activities
  • Perform cataloguing and end-processing of the library materials
  • Perform acquisition related procedures to acquire new library materials
  • Perform general office administrative tasks, such as recording books and serials, perform ending processing, etc.
  • Supervise and train part-time Library helpers
  • Undertake shift counter duties during evenings or weekends

Job Requirement

  • A recognized associate degree/higher diploma or equivalent qualifications
  • Knowledge of RDA, AACR2, MARC21 and LC Classification is preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and Chinese processing
  • Ability to work as a team as well as independently
  • Good command of English and Chinese (including Cantonese and Putonghua)
  • Experience in working in a library environment will be advantageous
